Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner built his winter resort at Gajner, considered as a desert bloom with copious wooded fringes that attract innumerable species of migratory birds (including the imperial sand grouse) every winter. Many endangered species like nilgai black buck and chinkara roam freely in the surrounding woods. Maharaja used this place to celebrate Christmas and foe hunting.
