The town of Nawalgarh that is located 30 kms southeast of Fatehpur (and 140 km from Jaipur) has some of the finest artifacts of the Shekhawati region. The town with the largest number of Havelis from the Shekhawati region emanates the charm of ancient Rajasthani culture. The Havelis boast of the beautifully engraved wooden gates and painted walls depicting stories and folk tales. The most famous among them are the sketches depicting narrative from life of Lord Krishna.
Thakur Nawal Singh founded the town of Nawalgarh during 18th century. He was a shrewd warrior & statesman and has his name is imprinted in the town's history in the form of folklores.
The town of Nawalgarh has maximum number of Shekhawati Havelis. The most famous of them are Aath (eight) Haveli Complex, Anandi Lal Poddar Haveli, Jodhraj Patodia Haveli, Bansidhar Bhagat Haveli, Chokhani Haveli, and Roop Niwas Palace.
