Hotel Laxmi Vilas, Bharatpur
Built originally a palace in 1887 by the then ruler of Bharatpur, Maharaja Ram Singh for his younger brother, it was converted into a hotel in 1994. The palace displays a unique fusion of Rajput and Mughal architecture with hints of the ‘Brij’ culture. The ceremonial room, for instance, has been decorated with frescoes which are quick to catch the eye of any visitor thanks to the bright shell herbal painting. While the hotel is situated at a distance of 55km from Agra Airport ( Bharatpur does not have its own airport), it boasts of a proximity to the Bharatpur bus and railway stations (a distance of 5 km each) as well as the Kaladeo Bird Sanctuary.

The hotel has 25 rooms in all, both in the suite and standard room categories. All the rooms have the attached bathrooms and hot water.
Dining facilities :
The palace kitchen runs exclusively on farm-fresh vegetables and has earned widespread reviews for its traditional dishes especially the churma. The guests can bank on the personal attention given by the royalty to the preparation of the dishes and hygiene in the kitchen.
Recreation :
The hotel provides guides for excursions to Keoladeo National Park. In fact the migration in and out of the Park can be witnessed from the Hotel campus itself. Besides trips to Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri and Deeg Palace are also arranged. Also on offer are camel and buggy rides. Once the tours have taken a toll on the guest, the swimming pool provides the ideal setting for chilling out!
